Materials for Precision Optics

Precision optical components are used to alter the state of light through a variety of means including focusing, filtering, reflecting, or polarizing. Precision optical components are integrated into a number of applications, such as microscopy, imaging, or interferometry, for industries ranging from the life sciences to testing and measurement. Precision optical components are often designed using specific substrates or anti-reflection coatings to optimize performance in designated ultraviolet, visible, or infrared wavelengths or wavelength ranges.

EVOCHEM offers a broad range of evaporation materials for precision optical components (selection):

  • Ge: High refractive index material for IR applications
  • CeF3: Low index material
  • HfO2: High-index, low absorption material usable for coatings in the near-UV (~250 nm) to IR (~10 µm) regions
  • MgF2: Evaporates cleanly and completely, without outgassing or spitting, and leaves a hard, uniform coating on the substrate
  • SiO2, 2x2mm pellets: An extremely pure, top-quality low-index material and best suitable in combination with HfO2
  • Ta2O5: Is a high-index, low-absorption material usable for coatings in the near-UV (350 nm) to IR (>8 µm) regions
  • Ultrapure-Si:High index material for IR applications
  • ZnS: High refractive index material for IR and VIS applications
  • ZrO2: A high index, low absorption material usable for coatings in the near-UV (<300 nm) to IR (~8 µm) spectral regions

 

 

EVOCHEM also offers a wide range of adhesion promoters between high index and low index layers. Suitable products are SiO, MgO and Y2O3.

 

Availble oxides for precision optical components include:SiO, CeO2, ZrO2, Ta2O5 and TiO2.
